It is with great pride and pleasure that we announce that National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has accredited the Molecular Laboratory of the Dr D Y Patil Medical College Hospital and Research Institute for testing of SARS-CoV-2 virus. Approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has also been received and the laboratory has started testing patients suspected of COVID 19 since 14th May 2020.
This has been possible in spite of lockdown challenges through the unstinting efforts of the entire team lead by Dean Dr R K Sharma and Medical Superintendent Dr Vaishali Gaikwad. The Research Laboratory Director Dr R S Patil and his team of faculty and technical staff immediately began work on samples from the hospital Flu OPD responding to the felt need of the region.
The commitment and support of a responsive management and all university officials facilitated the efforts. We also thank the local administration and authorities for all their support and cooperation. The contribution of our mentor institution AIIMS, Nagpur can go unrecognized. We thank all our well-wishers for their support.
