Dr. Indumathi Somasundaram of D.Y. Patil Education Society (Institution Deemed to be University), Kolhapur has been felicitated with  a Young Scientist Award in 2nd International Regenerative Medicine Conclave held on May 12-13, 2018, Chandigarh, India, Organized jointly by Anti Ageing Foundation (Society of Regenerative Aesthetic & Functional Medicine) and Indian Stem Cell Study Group. Theme of conclave was stem cell and regenerative medicine: Multispecialty applications in healthcare. Stem cell is gaining utmost importance in field of medicine, as it has the ability to even treat any disease that has no alternative.

Being an Invited speaker of the conclave, Dr. S. Indumathi addressed on the valuable additional source of stem cells, “The Endometrial stem cells: boon or curse”. She has an on-going project on endometrium funded by DST-SERB. She is working as Assistant Professor, Department of stem cell and regenerative medicine, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research of the University. The University conducts Master programme in Stem cell and Regenerative Medicine and Medical Biotechnology. It has a specialized infrastructure with state of the art culture facility, working on the regenerative translational medicine.
